The Indian Army runs two TGC courses every year. The January course starts in January and the July course starts in July. TGC 144 will start in January 2027 and TGC 145 will start in July 2027. Each course has around 30 vacancies divided stream wise.

Note The Indian Army TGC entry is only for male candidates. Women engineering graduates cannot apply for TGC. Women can apply through the SSCW Tech entry, which is the Short Service Commission entry for women in technical branches.
Who Can Apply for TGC 145?
The Indian Army TGC 145 course is open to unmarried male candidates who hold a BE, BTech or MSc Computer Science degree in a notified engineering stream. Candidates must be between 20 and 27 years of age on 01 July 2027. Final year students can also apply if they meet the proof deadline.

TGC Age Limit 20 to 27 Years
The tgc age limit for TGC 145 is 20 to 27 years as on 01 July 2027. This means the Indian Army will count your age on 01 July 2027. You must have completed 20 years and must not have completed 28 years on that date.
The Indian Army accepts only the date of birth written in your Matriculation or Class 10 certificate. No other document is accepted for age proof. Requests for change in date of birth after form submission are not accepted.

For TGC 145, if you were born on 30 June 2000, you are overage by one day. If you were born on 02 July 2007, you are underage. Both dates in the range are inclusive, so candidates born exactly on 01 July 2000 or 01 July 2007 remain eligible if all other conditions are met.
Is There Age Relaxation in TGC?
There is no age relaxation in the Indian Army TGC entry for any category. The tgc age limit for OBC, SC, ST and EWS candidates is the same 20 to 27 years. The tgc age limit for male candidates is also the same, because only male candidates can apply.
Warning Do not add the usual 3 years for OBC or 5 years for SC and ST while checking TGC eligibility. The Indian Army will reject your form at document verification.
TGC Eligibility: Key Conditions

Nationality

Gender and Marital Status
The Indian Army TGC entry is open only to unmarried male candidates. Married, divorced or widowed candidates cannot apply. Candidates must remain unmarried till completion of training. Marriage during training is not permitted and can lead to discharge.

Qualification and Streams
The Indian Army accepts BE, BTech and MSc Computer Science degrees for the TGC entry, but only in the engineering streams notified for that course. A general BE or BTech degree is not enough. Your exact branch must appear in the notified list for TGC 145.
Stream name mismatch is the biggest reason for rejection. If your degree paper says one name and your online form says a slightly different name, the Indian Army can cancel your candidature. Always copy the stream name exactly as printed on your degree and match it with the notified equivalent list.

Candidates with degrees in any other branch cannot apply. Distance or part time concerns should be checked against the AICTE approval rule in the detailed notification.
TGC Eligibility Percentage Rules
There is no fixed minimum tgc eligibility percentage like 60 percent to apply for TGC. Any candidate with a BE or BTech pass in a notified stream can submit the form. Selection for SSB depends on a stream wise cutoff fixed by the Indian Army after receiving all applications.
The cutoff is applied on cumulative percentage up to the final semester. For final year students, the Indian Army first checks marks up to the 6th semester for BE and BTech. After final results, the final year aggregate must also stay above the approved cutoff. If it falls below, candidature is cancelled even after SSB.
Pro Tip Convert CGPA to percentage using only your university formula. Carry the official conversion certificate to SSB. A wrong self conversion or missing certificate can cancel an otherwise strong SSB result.
Can Final Year Students Apply?
Yes, final year engineering students can apply for TGC if they are studying in the final year and can submit proof of passing before the course starts. For TGC 144, the deadline was 01 January 2027. For TGC 145, which starts in July 2027, the proof deadline will be 01 July 2027 as per the same pattern.
Final year candidates get only a special concession to attend SSB. The concession ends if degree proof is delayed for any reason, including late university exams or late results. No extension request is accepted.
Final year applicants for the tgc Indian Army 2026 cycle must meet three conditions. They must have no backlog at the time of form submission. Their cumulative marks up to the 6th semester must be above the stream cutoff. And their final aggregate after results must also stay above the cutoff.
