Exam Pattern (Crucial for Selection)
The SSC MTS exam pattern is unique. It is divided into two sessions conducted on the same day.
Session 1 (Qualifying Only)
- Subjects: Math (20 Q) + Reasoning (20 Q).
- Total Marks: 120 (60 + 60).
- Time: 45 Minutes.
- Negative Marking: NO Negative Marking.
- Role: You just need to clear the minimum qualifying marks. These marks are NOT added to the final merit.
Session 2 (Deciding Factor)
- Subjects: General Awareness (25 Q) + English Language (25 Q).
- Total Marks: 150 (75 + 75).
- Time: 45 Minutes.
- Negative Marking: -1 Mark for every wrong answer.
- Role: Final Merit is based ONLY on marks in Session 2.
Strategy: Where to Focus?
The pattern screams one thing: Math and Reasoning are less important. You just need to qualify.
The real game is English and General Awareness.
- English: 75 Marks
- GK: 75 Marks
Your entire selection depends on these 150 marks. If you are weak in Vocabulary or Current Affairs, you will not get selected, no matter how good your Math is.
Smart aspirants are using the Scoreclever App to master these specific subjects. Its spaced repetition technology helps you memorize thousands of GK facts and English words without forgetting.
Conclusion
The exam is delayed to December 2025 - January 2026. Do not relax. Use this bonus time to strengthen your General Awareness and English. Remember, in SSC MTS, GK and English are the kings.
